Pompeo Batoni to lead Sotheby’s Old Master Paintings Sale.
Sotheby’s has acquired Pompeo Batoni’s ‘Susanna and The Elders’ from 1751. This work will be featured in the sale of Important Old Master Paintings and Sculpture on 31 January 2013. The work is estimated at $6 – 9 million.
Turner prize-winner Douglas Gordon’s sculpture has been stolen from Chrisite’s auction house, which was first reported as stolen on 12 November, 2012. The work was insured up to £500,000.
